PEACH BLACK
PEACH BLACK is a mix of two very different ideas of what fruit can do in coffee.
Jairo Arcila's Peach Co-Fermented Castillo from Colombia brings the saturated stone fruit, wild aromatics and a hit of confectionery sweetness. Uganda African Moon brings the counterweight, a natural processed coffee from the Rwenzori Mountains with dark cherry, plum, cacao and a deeper, heavier sweetness.
The result is anything but ordinary. Think ripe peach, black cherry and cacao nibs, with a juicy opening that quickly builds into something richer. Sweet, aromatic and fruit-driven up, but with enough weight and structure to keep everything in check.
Arcila pushes the flavour dial into overdrive, using peach and wine yeast during fermentation to create an almost candy-like intensity. African Moon takes a more natural route, bringing fermented fruit character, chocolate depth and a syrupy body. One shouts; the other keeps it grounded. Together, they land somewhere seriously fun.
This is Colombian experimentation meeting East African natural processing,. Two radically different approaches, one ridiculously drinkable cup.
